Avsky are a 2 piece band hailing from Sweden and I would describe their music as Depressive Black Metal but more faster and energetic than most bands that specialize in that genre.
Drums on this recording are really fast at times with a lot of blast beats that were really crushing and at times they slow down to give the pace of the music an even edge, while the bass playing which was mixed down really low in the mix seems really heavy and dark with its tone.
Guitars on this recording are mostly rhythms with a lot of fast riffs mixed with a lot of mid paced parts that utilize influences from black'n'roll and thrash, as for the guitar leads they were mostly absent on this recording except for one song and it was really slow, doomy and melodic.
Vocals on this recording are mostly high pitched black metal screams mixed in with some suicidal cries and you can feel a lot of pain in the vocalist, as for the production on this recording which was recorded at Kaken during late 2007 it has a real dark and raw sound which makes the musical instruments sound really good.
In my opinion this is a really good album and I well be tracking down their past releases and I am looking forward to hearing new material in the future. My favorite tracks on this recording include "Fuck Your Values, Fuck Your Beliefs" "Like Poison" and "Maligant". HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
