Saligia/Sic Transit Gloria Mundu/Barghest Records/2011 CD Review

Saligia are a band from Norway that plays very raw and brutal form of Norwegian occult black metal and this is a review of their 2011 album "Sic Transit Gloria Mundu" which was released by Barghest Records.

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a good amount of blast beats being thrown in, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they have a very powerful sound.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are brutal and raw at times with a more modern style black metal style that utilizes a good amount of skill and talent being used while the lead guitars when they are utilized are very distorted sounding black metal guitar leads

Vocals are a mixture of high pitched and grim sounding black metal screams with some vocals being thrown in that sound like there in between clean singing and rough vocals which gives the music some originality, while the lyrics cover dark and occult themes, as for the production it has a very dark, powerful and heavy sound to it while not being too over produced.

In my opinion Saligia are a very good and original sounding occult black metal band and if you are looking for something that is different in this genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Casus Gloria' "Orb Of Flesh" and "Upon The Altar". RECOMMENDED BUY.
