Atrabilis/Self Titled/2010 EP Review

Atrabilis are a 1 man band from Spain that plays a very raw and primitive form of depressive black metal with some dark ambient influences and this is a review of their self released and self titled 2010 ep.

Drum programming ranges from slow, mid paced to fast beats, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars, as for the sound effects and synths when they are utilized they bring a very dark and avant garde sound to the music and the last part of this recording goes into a more dark ambient/noise direction.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast ambient depressive black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding mixed in with some weird drone parts in addition some of the songs are very long and epic sounding while there are still shorter ones and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.

Vocals range from deep growls to high pitched depressive black metal screams and cries, while the lyrics are written in Spanish with themes that cover negativism and natural born self isolation, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.

In my opinion Atrabilis are a very great sounding depressive dark ambient/black metal band and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Primera Parte" and "Tercera Parte". RECOMMENDED BUY.
