Blackend Horizon/II(.. thoughts)/2011 Demo Review

Blackend  Horizon  are  a  1  man  band  from  Germany  that  plays  a  crust  influenced  form  of  raw  and  primitive  post  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2011  demo  "II(...thoughts)".

Drum  programming  ranges  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast beats,  while  the  bass  playing  it  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  heavy  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  the  recording.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  post  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  raw  and  primitive  sounding  with  some  melody  and  crustcore  influences  being thrown  into  the  riffing  as  well  as some  shoegaze  elements  along  with  a  brief  use  of  soft  and  clean  playing  and  there  are  little  to  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording,  as  for  the  acoustic  guitars  when  they  are  utilized  they  use  finger  picking  and  full  chords  to  add  more  variety  to  the  music.

Vocals  are  all  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  depressing  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  raw  and  primitive  sound  while  you  can still  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording  with  some  of  the  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  Blackend  Horizon  are  a  very  great  sounding  crust  influenced  raw  and  primitive  sounding  post  black  metal  band  and  if  you are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out t his  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "I"  "Disgusting"  and  "In  An  Utter  Sea".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
