Kuxan Suum/Self Titled/Fallen Empire Records/2012 Compilation Review

Kuxan  Suum  are  a  band  from  Portland,  Oregon  that  plays  a  very  psychedelic  form  of  black  metal  with  some  death  metal influences  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  titled  2012  compilation  album  which  was  released  by  Fallen  Empire  Records.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while t he  sound  effects  bring  elements  of  psychedelic,  drone,  experimental  and  ambient  to  the  recording  along  with  some  atmospheric  sounding  synths,  as  for  the  bass  playing  it  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  heavy  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  the  recording.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  raw  and  primitive  sounding  black  metal  with  psychedelic  and  drone  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  as  well  as  mixing  in  some  dark  sounding  melodies  and  death  metal  influences  in  the  riffing  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on this  recording.

Vocals  are  all  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams  and  cries,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Mayan  Mythology,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it  while  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording  with  the  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  Kuxan  Suum  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric,  psychedelic,  raw  and  primitive  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,   you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Principle  Of  Harmonic  Resonance".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
