Nefaria are a 1 man band from Portland, Oregon that plays a very raw and primitive form of old school black metal and this is a review of their self released 2013 demo compilation review "Demo I & IV - The Searing Winds Of Supremacy".
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being utilized at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars, as for the sound effects which are only utilized briefly bring a very dark and evil sound to the album.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding in the old school 90's tradition while also adding in a dark atmosphere to the riffing as well as a small amount of melody and there are little to no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals are all grim sounding black metal screams, while the lyrics cover Vampirism, Occultism, Darkness and Genocide, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound in the true old school black metal tradition with most of the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Nefaria are a very great sounding old school style black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this compilation. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Vampyric Imperialism" and "Searing Winds Of Supremacy". RECOMMENDED
